Guide pratique pour importer du calcaire marocain en franchise de droits sous MAFTA — de la commande à la livraison sur chantier.
Morocco and the United States have maintained a free trade agreement since 2006 — the Morocco-American Free Trade Agreement (MAFTA). Under HTS code 6802 (worked monumental or building stone), natural stone from Morocco enters the US at 0% duty. This means a $45,000 container of Moroccan limestone costs the same at customs as a domestic order — no import tax, no tariff surcharge, no Section 301 exposure (Morocco is not subject to US reciprocal tariff actions). This gives Moroccan stone a structural price advantage over Chinese, Turkish, and Indian competitors, all of whom face 3.2–25%+ duty rates.

The process starts with product selection. Browse our catalog at stonemade.ma/products and identify the family (Atlas Beige, Atlas Grey, Solara, etc.), finish (Castle, Honed, Brushed, Brossé, etc.), and format (standard sizes from 30×30 to 120×60 cm, custom available). We ship free sample boxes — 6 stones in your selected finish — via DHL Express. Most customers receive samples within 5–7 business days. Once you have samples in hand, we can issue a full spec sheet including CTM lab test results (ASTM C97, C170, C880) and a reference panel image for color/finish validation.

Minimum order quantity (MOQ) is 1 × 20-foot container, which holds approximately 14–18 metric tons of natural stone depending on format and thickness. For common residential/commercial formats (60×40×3 cm), a 20' container covers roughly 500–700 m² of paving. Payment terms: 30% deposit at order confirmation, 70% against Bill of Lading. We accept wire transfer (SWIFT) and can arrange trade finance for repeat customers. Lead time from order confirmation to container loading: 4–8 weeks (custom colors/finishes on longer end). Add 14–21 days for ocean freight (Casablanca → US East Coast ports).

We ship FOB Casablanca or DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) to your US warehouse or jobsite. DDP is our recommended option for first-time importers — we handle the entire logistics chain: factory → port → freight forwarder → US customs clearance (using MAFTA certificate of origin) → last-mile delivery to your address. Customs documentation includes: Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading, Certificate of Origin (Form A, issued by AMDIE Morocco), and CTM lab test reports if requested by customs.
Total landed cost breakdown for a typical 20' container (Atlas Beige Castle, 60×40×3 cm, ~16 tons, ~580 m²): Material: $12/SF = ~$63,000 FOB. Ocean freight Casablanca → NY: ~$3,500. US customs clearance (0% duty under MAFTA): ~$450 in processing fees only. Drayage + delivery (NY metro): ~$1,200. Total DDP: ~$68,150, or ~$13.10/SF landed. For comparison, equivalent Italian limestone typically lands at $22–35/SF after 3.2% duty and higher FOB prices.
